The reading of the passion accounts (Matthew 26 and 27, Mark 14 and 15, Luke 22 and 23, John 18 and 19) characterize the church's observance of holy week. It's as though time in the church slows down so that we walk hour by hour, nearly step by step, with our Lord. Sunday is dedicated to reading Matthew's passion. Monday is dedicated to reading John 12, after our Lord's entry into Jerusalem. Tuesday is dedicated to Mark's passion. Wednesday is Luke's passion. Thursday is Maundy Thursday and the giving of the Lord's Supper. Friday is John's passion account.
