It was “opposite day” for the Monticello Cubs in the opening round of the Peosta Tournament Aug. 11, as the Cubs scored a 12-3, five-inning semi-pro baseball victory over Holy Cross.
“This was the exact opposite of the Cascade game earlier in the week,” Monticello player-manager Garett Hanken said. “The score could have been more lopsided than it was.”
At Cascade Aug. 8, the Cubs put up four hits in a 13-0, five inning loss.
“This was one of those ‘dog days of summer’ games,” Hanken said. “We really didn’t get up for it, and it showed.”
