Boys basketball games between rivals Monticello and Camanche have become intense and competitive in recent years.
This one wasn’t competitive.
Monticello shot 19-for-30 from three-point range, took a big early lead, and had a 30-point performance from junior Preston Ries in a 75-38 romp Dec. 20 at Camanche.
“We shared the ball, and we were more locked in defensively,” Monticello coach Tim Lambert said. “It was more team basketball. We just played the game like we know it should be played. Our mental approach was so much better.”
