Monticello’s run in the Worthington Semi-Pro Baseball Tournament was cut short in a 6-1 semifinal loss to Balltown July 1.
The Cubs (4-9) had reached the semis with wins over Holy Cross and Placid, but couldn’t overcome an early 4-0 deficit against Balltown.
Monticello scored on a solo home run by Tanner Felton in the top of the fourth inning, but allowed two more Balltown runs in the fifth to trail 6-1.
The Cubs had five hits; Tanner Felton and Matt Holmes each went 2-for-3. Defensively, Monticello made four errors.
