Prairie Hill (November)

     The regular meeting of the Prairie Hill 4-H Club was held at the Citizens State Bank Youth Development Center Nov. 21, 2016. The meeting was called to order by Chloe Gray. The Pledge to the American Flag was led by Cole Nietert. Roll call was: “What did you bring for the Food Pantry?”

     Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion to approve the minutes was made by Savannah Freese, seconded by Taylor Gassman. The treasurer’s report was given. Motion to approve the treasurer’s report was made by Bella Mullen, seconded by Hannah Ahlrichs. Outstanding bills were $22.50 for boxes and $16.00 for books. Motion to approve outstanding bills was made by Claire Hogan, seconded by Bella Mullen.

     Old business was discussed, including officer installation, Make-A-Difference Day, 4-H volleyball, and Awards Day.

     New business was discussed, including enrolling in 4-H online, officer training, rules and expectations, FSQA, and market beef weigh-in.

     Giving presentations were Austin Timm, Gavin Timm and Hannah Ahlrichs.

     Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Chloe Gray, seconded by Cole Nietert. The Pledge to the 4-H Flag was led by Breanna Adams.

Prairie Hill (October)

     The regular meeting of the Prairie Hill 4-H Club was held at the Citizens State Bank Youth Development Center Oct. 17, 2016. The meeting was called to order by Chloe Gray at 5:30 p.m. The Pledge to the American Flag was led by Alex Britt. Roll call was: “Name your favorite treat.”

     Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion to approve the minutes was made by Sophie Gray, seconded by Cole Nietert.

     Old business was discussed, including good wedding cleanup attendance, and National 4-H Week, for which 4-H members were asked to wear their 4-H shirts Oct. 3.

     New business was discussed: Enrollment fees are due. Make-A-Difference Day is Oct. 24. 4-H volleyball is Nov. 12. Awards Day is Nov. 13.

     Giving presentations were Trisha Curran, Cole, Cord and Jasper Nietert.

     Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Savannah Freese, seconded by Bella Mullen. The Pledge to the 4-H Flag was led by Breanna Adams.

Prairie Hill (September)

     The regular meeting of the Prairie Hill 4-H Club was held at the Citizens State Bank Youth Development Center Sept. 19, 2016. The meeting was called to order by Chloe Gray at 6:25 p.m. The Pledge to the American Flag was led by Sophie Gray. Roll call was: “Favorite school subject.” It was answered by 29 members, and four visitors were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion to approve the minutes was made by Bella Mullen, seconded by Lauren Koehler. The treasurer’s report was given. Motion to approve the treasurer’s report was made by Breanna Adams, seconded by Jabezz Husmann.

     Old business was discussed, including wedding cleanup, that books are due Sept. 1, and that the bake sale was cancelled.

     New business was discussed, including enrolling new members, enrollment fees, wedding cleanups, National 4-H Week, Make-A-Difference Day, volleyball, officer training, and Awards Day.

     Giving presentations were Cole, Cord and Jasper Nietert.

     Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Eian Weber, seconded by Kole Weber. The Pledge to the 4-H Flag was led by Adele Hogan.

Jones County Central

     The Jones County Central 4-H club held its regular monthly meeting on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at the Anamosa Lawrence Community Center.

     The meeting was called to order at 5:46 p.m. by president Elizabeth Creveling, with Autumn Kirby leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Treasurer’s Report and Secretary’s Report were given, and both were approved. Roll call was: “What is one food and one way to stay healthy?” It was answered by 14 members. Four leaders and nine guests were present.

     Old Business was: online Enrollment, Code of Ethics, and medical forms were announced by leader Becky Kirby-Creveling to please get them in as soon as possible. Make a Difference Day was announced by president Elizabeth Creveling and Grant Lubben, that this activity had just been completed by club members. We cleaned gutters, planted plants, and removed a sand box at Pat Lubben's house. Twelve club members and numerous parents helped with this activity. After everything was completed there was a light lunch and Pat thanked everyone for helping.

     New business discussed was: Finished officer elections with Sierra Lief and Gracie Henderson as activities directors and Elizabeth Riniker as photographer. The budget was handed out to all members, leaders, and parents to show how the club's money is spent. An updated version will be handed out once memberships are established and the fundraiser is completed. 4-H Volleyball will be held this weekend, Saturday, Nov. 12, starting at 9 a.m. at the Monticello Middle School. Our Junior and Senior Teams will be joining with other clubs to make up teams. Leader Becky Kirby-Creveling announced that there will be a Fall FSQA meeting to be held on Nov. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Citizens State Bank Youth Development Center. Members that plan to attend need to contact the Extension Office by Nov. 15 to RSVP. This would be a good time for members that are showing animals that fall under this classification to get this class completed, as spring is always very busy with sports. Awards Day is Sunday, Nov. 13 at the Jones County Youth Development Center with 5 p.m. for social time, 5:30 p.m. meal, and 6:00 p.m. banquet. The meal was provided by Jones County Beef Producers, Jones County Pork Producers, and Jones County Dairy Promoters. It was decided that the club would do the Cookie Appreciation Platters again this year; these platters will be distributed to various businesses that help to support Jones County 4-H throughout the year. It was discussed and voted on by a majority that we would have a tree at the LCC Christmas Tree Walk. It was also discussed and voted on that we would collect non-perishable items for the needy to be distributed by the Lawrence Community Center, make tie-blankets, Christmas Cards, videos/DVDs, and books/games/cards for The University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and Blank Children's Hospital. It was also announced that the club had been accepted to be involved in the Christmas Star Program and would soon be getting items together for this.  Beef Weigh-in is scheduled for Dec. 24 at Kirkwood Community College for any market beef animals that possibly will be shown at the Iowa State Fair or Ak-Sar-Ben. Any market beef to be shown at the county fair only will weigh-in on Dec. 31 at the Cascade Sale Barn.

     The Club Christmas Party will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 4 p.m. at the Youth Development Center in Monticello. It will be a potluck meal with the meat being supplied by the club.

     The meeting was adjourned at 6:21 p.m. The 4-H Pledge was led by Elizabeth Riniker. The club welcomed guest speaker Lee Hein, Iowa House Representative for District 96. He spoke about the legislative process and answered questions from club members, leaders, and guests.

     The club also welcomes new members: Hailey Henderson and Natalie Henderson.

     The next meeting/party will be Dec. 4, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at the Youth Development Center in Monticello.
