Prairie Hill

     The January meeting of the Prairie Hill 4-H Club was held on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022 at the Youth Development Center in Monticello. The meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m. by Taylor Gassman, President. The pledge to the American Flag was led by Roth Schnoor. The roll call question of “If you built a snowman, what would you name it?” was answered by 33 members. Five visitors were present.

     The December Secretary’s Report was read by Secretary Lauren Koehler. Harper Russell made a motion to approve the minutes. Lane Weber seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

     The Treasurer’s Report was given by Treasurer Mace Schnoor. Tucker Rahe made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report and Dawson Ricklefs seconded the motion.  Motion carried. There were no bills.

     The Jones County 4-H Awards program was held on Jan. 9 at the Youth Development Center. Prairie Hill 4-H Club award winners were recognized and pins and certificates were distributed.

     President Gassman encouraged members to sign up to go on 4-H trips offered this year including Winter Plunge, Capital Bound, ISU Farm Trip and Night at the Zoo. Various members who attended these trips in prior years told the club about their positive experiences.

     Members were invited to sign up to play 4-H volleyball on Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Anamosa Middle School.

     Kylee McElmeel gave a presentation about her $10 meal challenge poster. Dawson and Dylan Ricklefs and Keegan McElmeel gave a presentation about bottle feeding meat goats and caring for them.

     A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Lincoln Schneiter and seconded by Izzy Taylor. Motion carried. The meeting concluded with the Pledge to the 4-H Flag, led by Lincoln Schneiter.

     Follow the conclusion of the business meeting, members created valentine cards which will be distributed to residents of the Pennington Square Assisted Living Center.
