Prairie Hill

   The October meeting of the Prairie Hill 4-H Club was held on Monday, Oct. 19, 2022 at the Youth Development Center. Pumpkins were carved at 5:30 p.m. prior to the meeting, which was called to order at 6:20 p.m. by President Taylor Gassman. The pledge of allegiance was led by Roth Schnoor. The roll call question of “What are you going to dress up as for Halloween?” was answered by 32 members. Five leaders and four guests were present.

   The September Secretary’s Report was read by Lauren Koehler. Roth Schnoor made a motion to approve the minutes. Grant Gassman seconded the motion. Motion carried.

   The Treasurer’s Report was given by Mace Schnoor. Jessica Stadtmueller made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report and Ava Moestchen seconded the motion. Motion carried. Lincoln Schneiter made a motion to pay new bills.  John Leytem seconded the motion. Motion carried.

   Old Business: Completed 4-H record books were due to leaders by Oct. 21. The delivery of Edgewood Locker meat will be Nov. 19 at 8:30 a.m. The 4-H Awards Program will be held at the Youth Development Center on Sunday, Nov., 20th at 12:30 p.m. Members were reminded to bring a “Birthday Box” to the November meeting if they have not done so already, to support Leah Koehler’s food pantry citizenship project. Members also gave a report on their citizenship activity at Central Park which included carving 30 pumpkins.

   New Business: The club installed new officers: President,  Leah Koehler; Vice President, Lily Moestchen; Secretary, Mace Schnoor; Treasurer, Lorelei Rieken; Reporter, Lauren Koehler; Historian, John Leytem; Photographer, Taylor Gassman; and Recreation Leader, Lake Schnoor.

   Eight new members were installed: Lilly Cupples, Emily Leytem, Luke Leytem, John Leytem, Wilma Porter, Ava Moestchen, Isaac Hovey and Rachel Schewe.

   Upcoming events include 4-H Volleyball at the Anamosa Middle School on Nov. 12. Members must be enrolled in 4-H online to participate in the volleyball tournament. Multi-County 4-H Officer Training is on Nov. 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Lisbon Library. Enrollment in 4-H online is due Dec. 31.

   Members discussed the Holiday Party in December. Lincoln Schneiter made a motion for the club to decorate cookies. Lily Moestchen seconded the motion. Motion carried. Roth Schnoor made a motion for the club to provide pizza and Rynn Schnoor seconded this motion. Motion carried.

   Chloe Cupples gave a presentation on “Guinea Pigs” and Valerie Cupples gave a presentation on “Hamsters.”

   The next meeting will be on Monday, Nov. 21 at 6:15 p.m. at the Youth Development Center, hosted by Tucker and Adley Rahe and Aubrey Lasack.

   A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Harper Russell and seconded by Lincoln Schneiter. Motion carried. The pledge to 4-H flag was led by Roth Schnoor. Refreshments and snacks were enjoyed after the meeting provided by Chloe and Valerie Cupples.
