Prairie Hill

     The October meeting of the Prairie Hill 4-H Club was held on Monday, Oct. 18, 2021 at the Youth Development Center. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Lake Schnoor, President. The pledge to the American Flag was led by Lincoln Schneiter. Roll call was conducted by voting for the member’s favorite decorated or carved pumpkin, which members created prior to the meeting. There were 28 members in attendance, and five visitors.

     The Secretary’s Report was read by Leah Koehler. Roth Schnoor made a motion to approve the minutes. Meghan Besler seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

     The Treasurer’s Report was given by Roth Schnoor. Adley Rahe made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report as well as bills. Tucker Rahe seconded the motion. Motion carried.

     New Officers for the 2021-2022 4-H year were installed as follows: Taylor Gassman, president; Lake Schnoor, vice president; Lauren Koehler, secretary; Mace Schnoor, treasurer; Leah Koehler, reporter; Lily Moestchen, historian; Miranda Rieken, photographer; Claire Hogan, recreation leader.

     New members of the Prairie Hill 4-H Club were also installed. They include: Kinley Gassman, Adley Rahe, Tucker Rahe, Harper Russell and Rynn Schnoor.

     Members were asked to bring a nonperishable food item or personal hygiene item for the Monticello Food Pantry to the November meeting. Lane Weber made a motion to donate $200 to the Monticello Food Pantry. Adley Rahe seconded the motion. Motion carried.

     Leader Jessica McElmeel recognized Prairie Hill members for turning in a completed record book.

     President Gassman informed club members of the following 4-H opportunities: Iowa Legislative Insider, 4-H Camera Corps and Iowa Horse Quest. For more information, members were asked to contact the Jones County Extension Office.

     Madilynn Kromminga, Roth Schnoor and Mace Schnoor were announced as the pumpkin carving and decorating contest winners.

     The next meeting of the Prairie Hill 4-H Club will be on Monday, Nov. 15 at the Youth Development Center at 6:15 p.m. Scheduled to host the November meeting and give presentations are Isabella Taylor, Tucker and Adley Rahe, and Aubrey Lasack.

     A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Drew Ricklefs and seconded by Kylee McElmeel. The meeting concluded with the Pledge to the 4-H Flag, led by Mace Schnoor.
