Jones County Central

     The Jones County Central 4-H Club held their regular monthly meeting on Sunday, January 3, 2021 through ZOOM.

     The meeting was called to order at 1:02 p.m. by Elizabeth Riniker. Brooklyn Stark led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was – “Is snow really white? Are snowflakes made up of many different shapes?” It was answered by 12 members. There were six leaders and zero guests present. Secretary’s Report was given. Brooklyn Stark moved to approve the Secretary’s Report and Natalie Hendersen seconded it. It passed by majority vote.

     Treasurer’s Report was given. Gracie Hendersen moved to approve the Treasurer’s Report and Kyle Arduser seconded it. It passed by majority vote. Bills were presented. Lauren Oltmanns moved to approve the bills and Kayla Arduser seconded it.

     Old Business: We did not participate in the Christmas Tree Walk due to it being virtual. The Can and Paper Good Donation Drive was delivered to the Jones County Food Pantry. The Community Service Project – Cookie Appreciation. Platters were given to Monticello Express, Jones County Farm Bureau, River Valley, Inc, Commander Buildings, Above & Beyond, Wolken Dental Services, Jake’s Custom Applicating, Fidelity Bank and Trust inAnamosa and Monticello, F&M Bank, Cascade Sale Barn, and Jerry White and Family. The businesses were very appreciative. HACAP was very appreciative of the five tie-knot blankets they received.

     Community Service Project – Christmas Care & Share Program HACAP were very appreciative of our club participating in this program. Community Service Project – Donations to Hospitals were sent to the three different hospitals which were: Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Blank Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The club received a thank you note from Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Monticello and Anamosa Nursing Home – 142 gift bags were delivered, and they were greatly appreciated. Beef weigh-in – The Lubben family reported on this. The 4-H Legislative Trip is scheduled for Feb. 17. This event will be held virtually. More info will be coming soon.

     New Business: The YQCA program is going to continue. At this point, ONLINE is your only option due to COVID restrictions. Watch for latest news from the Extension Office. ONLINE certification does cost you $12 and is only good for a year.

     The meeting was adjourned at 1:24 p.m. by Elizabeth Riniker with the 4-H Pledge being led by Nichelle Kirby. The next meeting will be February 7, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. through ZOOM.
