Prairie Hill

     The regular meeting of the Prairie Hill 4-H Club was held Nov. 20, 2017 at the Citizens State Bank Youth Development Center.

     The meeting was called to order by Caleb Hogan at 6:23 p.m. The Pledge to the American Flag was led by Cole Adams, Roll call was: “What you brought for the food pantry.” It was answered by 45 members. Nine visitors were also present.

     Minutes of the previous meeting were not read. Motion to approve the treasurer’s report was made by Lake Schnoor, seconded by Cole Adams. There were no outstanding bills.

     Old business: The key fobs are in the process of being made. When completed, members will be notified of pickup details. The member who sold the most key fobs, Taylor Gassman, won the $25 gift card to Target. Prairie Hill 4-H Club rules and expectations were reviewed. If you have not enrolled in 4-H online or signed a code of ethics form, please do so immediately. You are not an official member of the club until you have enrolled and signed. Ask a leader if you have questions. The 4-H Awards Event was held on Sunday, Nov. 12. Congratulations to all award-winners. The 4-H Volleyball Day was held Nov. 11 at Monticello Middle School. Club officer training was held Nov. 19 in Tipton. Bella Mullen, Caleb Hogan and Brooklyn Stark attended.

     New business: Beef Blast at Iowa State will be held Dec. 2. The focus of the event is genetics. Registration deadline is Nov. 21. Cost is $40. See leaders for more information if interested. Market Beef Weigh-in dates are Dec. 23 at Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids, 9-10:30 a.m.; and Dec. 30 at the Cascade Livestock Barn, 8:30-11 a.m. Iowa State Fair and Ak-Sar-Ben cattle must be weighed in at Kirkwood. The Christmas party in December was discussed, including pizza, making cards or ornaments for the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center or Pennington Square, games, and a club activity. Brooklyn Stark was installed as reporter/photographer. A Harry Potter 4-H Club was discussed.

     Giving presentations were Hannah Ahlrichs, Lydia Ahlrichs and Bella Mullen. Hosting the next meeting will be Jaelynn Kraus, Karle Kramer, Bo Kramer, Hunter Kramer and Brooklyn Stark.

     Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Lake Schnoor, seconded by Bella Mullen. The Pledge to the 4-H Flag was led by Carter Martin.

     The next meeting will be Nov. 26 at 4:30 p.m.
