4-H NEWS 3-23-22

Prairie Hill

     The February meeting of the Prairie Hill 4-H Club was held on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022 at the Youth Development Center. The meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m. by Lake Schnoor, Vice President. The pledge to the American Flag was led by Dawson Ricklefs. The roll call question of “What is something found in a first aid kit besides a bandage?” was answered by 22 members.  Three visitors were present.

     The January Secretary’s Report was read by Keegan McElmeel. Harper Russell made a motion to approve the minutes. Drew Ricklefs seconded the motion. Motion carried.

     The Treasurer’s Report was given by John Leytem. Dylan Ricklefs made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Roth Schnoor seconded the motion. Motion carried.

     Members of the Prairie Hill Volleyball Team were congratulated for being champions of the  Jones County 4-H Volleyball Tournament held on Feb. 5.

     There is still time for members to sign up to attend Junior Summer Camp in Solon, the ISU Farm Trip and the Night at the Omaha Zoo Trip. Signup and additional trip details were provided.

     Experienced members of the club explained Youth for the Quality Care of Animals and that certifications are due by July 1.

     The Derby Swine Weigh-In will be on April 2. The place and time are yet to be determined.

     Members were encouraged to begin setting goals for 4-H projects and exhibits so that fair reports and record books are easier to complete later in the year.

     The next meeting of the Prairie Hill 4-H Club will be on Monday, March 21.

     Emma Kromminga gave a presentation on “Protein Balls.”

     A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Kole Weber and seconded by Emma Kromminga. The meeting concluded with the Pledge to the 4-H Flag, led by Harper Russell. Refreshments were enjoyed following the meeting provided by hosts Jessica and Brandt Stadtmueller and Madilynn and Emma Kromminga.
