Jones County Central

     The Jones County Central 4-H Club held its regular monthly meeting on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018 at the Lawrence Community Center.

     Roll call was – “Name a random act of kindness that you did or plan to do this year.” It was answered by 21 members. There were four leaders and six guests present.

     The meeting was called to order at 1:15 p.m. by Wesley Henderson. Maisie Paulsen led the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary’s Report was given. It was moved by Kirklen Kiburz and seconded by Elizabeth Riniker to approve the Secretary’s Report; it passed by majority. Treasurer’s Report was given and it was moved by Tabitha Etten and seconded by Ali Braden to approve the Treasurer’s Report. It passed by majority.

     Old Business: Plunge into 4-H Winter Retreat (4th-6th grade) was February 9-10 at Pictured Rocks.

     New Business: Fundraiser – Edgewood Locker meat is being sold until March 4 and will be delivered on April 7. YQCA – The 4-H program has gone to a new quality assurance program that started in January. There will be no face-to-face meeting this year, everything will be done online. The YQCA is only good for one year and will cost $12 per member to take. A letter was sent out from the Extension Office on this new change to the rules this year. 4-H Basketball is scheduled for Saturday, March 3 at Monticello Middle School with the senior (9th-12th grade) games starting at 9 a.m. and junior (4th-8th grade) games starting at 12:30 p.m. It was announced that the majority of the presentations will be held at the March meeting, unless you have talked to a leader about moving it to another meeting.      The meeting was adjourned at 1:34 p.m. with the 4-H Pledge being led by Gracie Henderson.

     The members participated in making Valentines for Vets, a team building exercise, and a baby shower was held for leaders Brian and Becky Creveling.
