Scotch Grove Challengers

     The regular meeting of the Scotch Grove Challengers was held at the Monticello Renaissance Center in Monticello on May 6, 2018.

     President Tommy Dirks called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m.  Twenty-one members answered the roll call topic, “your favorite summer activity.” Fourteen guests were present. Dori Paddock led the Pledge of Allegiance. Will Wolken read the secretary’s report. There were no additions or corrections. Autry Fasnacht made the motion to approve the secretary’s report and Cooper Wickman seconded. Motion carried. Ashlynn Sparks provided the treasurer’s report. Davin Wickman made the motion to approve the treasurer’s report and Steven Bader seconded. Motion carried.

     Old business: T-shirts are ready to be picked up at Monticello Sports. Make sure you are signed up for project areas and livestock is identified by May 15. $15 Casey’s pizza and $10 donut cards are ready to sell. See leaders to pick up.

     New business: The fair theme this year is “Welcome Home.” A few different ideas were discussed and the club agreed on a booth decorating idea involving a house, garden, barn, etc. with members pictures displayed with their appropriate 4-H project area. Club dues will need to be paid prior to receiving fair passes. Your balance due will be determined after fund-raising is deducted. Rylee Fleming volunteered to plant the club flower pot for the fair this year.

     Autry Fasnacht made the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Joseph Schrader. Keziah McQuillen led the Pledge to the 4-H Flag.  The meeting ended at 6:17 p.m.

     Rylee Fleming gave a presentation on “How to plant flowers.” Then the club participated in a healthy living challenge which involved walking/running and collecting cards. The teams with the best hands won prizes.

Prairie Hill

     The regular meeting of the Prairie Hill 4-H Club was held Monday, May 21.

     The meeting was called to order at 6:17 p.m. Hunter Kramer led the Pledge to the American Flag. The roll call mixer was, “Name a project you are taking to the fair” and “Sign up for door prizes.” The secretary’s minutes from the April meeting were read. Motion to approve the secretary’s report was made by Lake Schnoor, seconded by Dalton Hampson. In the treasurer’s report, our checking account balance is $2,849.79. Motion to approve the treasurer’s report was made by Leah Koehler, seconded by Lorelei Reiken. Motion to approve the bills was made by Madilynn Kromminga, seconded by Lake Schnoor.

     Old Business: Those who participated in Clothing Selection and the $15 Challenge on May 12 told about what they learned.

     Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Taylor Gassman, seconded by Hannah Ahlrichs. The Pledge to the American Flag was led by Lindsey Adams.

     The next club meeting will be June 18 at 6:15 p.m.
