Jones County Central

     The Jones County Central 4-H Club held its regular monthly meeting on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017 at the Lawrence Community Center.

     The meeting was called to order at 4:22 p.m. by president Elizabeth Creveling. Grant Lubben led the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary’s Report was given and approved; Wesley Henderson moved to approve the secretary’s minutes and Grant Lubben seconded the motion. The motion passed by majority. Treasurer’s Report was given; Elizabeth Riniker moved to approve the treasurer’s report and Natalia Williams seconded the motion. The motion passed by majority.  Roll call was – “What would you like to study in college in the future?” It was answered by 14 members.

     Old Business: Bread Making and Baking –Koree Miller reported that it was an excellent experience and she had fun.

     New Business: Presentations – It was announced that we scheduled the March meeting to be the meeting that everyone gives a presentation at. It is scheduled for March 5 at 1 p.m. Fundraiser – It was announced that our Edgewood Locker fundraiser started Feb. 5 and goes until our March meeting. FSQA/YQCA – The 4-H program is going to a new quality assurance program starting March 1. There will be no testing for 2017 due to this change. The new dates for training are Feb. 20 starting at 9:30 a.m., May 10 starting at 6:30 p.m., and June 15 starting at 6:30 p.m. with all being held at the Jones County Youth Development Center. T-shirt design – We will need to vote as a club on a new t-shirt design at the March meeting, so we have time to get the design approved by the Extension Office and get the t-shirts ordered.  4-H Online – Reminder to all members and parents to read the 4-H online emails that come out as many event details are sent out between our monthly meetings. Legislative trip – Scheduled for Feb. 28 with registration needing to be done by Feb. 20. Cost is $61 and open to 7th to 12th graders. ISU Fashion Show – Scheduled for April 7 on campus. Cost is $52. The show will cover many aspects of the clothing industry.

     The meeting was adjourned at 4:40 p.m. The 4-H Pledge was led by Trista DeShaw. 

The next meeting will be March 5 at 1 p.m. at the Jones County Youth Development Center. Presentations must be given by all remaining members at the March meeting, unless a leader has been contacted prior to the meeting on giving it in a different month.
