Prairie Hill

     The October meeting of the Prairie Hill 4-H Club was called to order at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct, 15, 2018 at the Youth Development Center by Adele Hogan, president-elect.

     The pledge to the American Flag was led by Larissa Saunders. Roll call of “What is your favorite spooky character?” was answered by 39 members.

     No secretary report was given.

     Jabezz Husmann, treasurer, reported that there is $2,130.46 in the club’s checking account. Dawson Ricklefs made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Kendall Siebels seconded the motion. Motion carried. Bella Mullen made a motion to approve the payment of bills: $60 to Nicole Moestchen for 30 pumpkins, and to Karla Koehler for $15 for pumpkin decorations and $3.50 for a broom and dustpan to be kept at the Youth Development Center. Lane Weber seconded the motion. Motion carried.

     Old Business: Prior to the meeting, members carved and decorated 30 pumpkins as a recreation activity. 4-H Online Enrollment should be completed this month. Olivia Besler was recognized for turning in a record book in August. Her name was omitted from reporting last month. Twelve Operation Christmas Child boxes were turned in as club citizenship projects.

     Edgewood Locker Meat Fundraiser Sale Sheets and checks were turned into Leader Nicole Moestchen.

     New business: 2018-1019 Dues are $35 per member. Checks should be made payable to Prairie Hill 4-H Club.

     The 4-H Make a Difference Presentation Event will take place on Monday, Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Pennington Square Assisted Living in Monticello. Eleven members have volunteered to give presentations to residents.

     4-H Volleyball signup deadline is Oct. 25. The 4-H Volleyball Tournament will be held on Nov. 3 at the Monticello Middle School, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. If interested, have your parent email a leader or post a message on Facebook.

     4-H Awards Event is Nov. 4 at the Youth Development Center. Lunch is at 12:30pm, awards at 1 p.m. RSVPs are due to the Extension Office on Oct. 24.

     Taylor Gassman was elected Secretary. Officers for 2018-2019 club year were installed: president Adele Hogan, vice president Lauren Koehler, secretary Taylor Gassman, treasurer Lake Schnoor and historian Bella Mullen. Photographer Jaelynn Kraus was absent and will be installed next month.

     Meghan Besler, Grace Cooksley, Emma Kromminga and Aubrey Lasack were installed as new members.

     4-H Officer Training will be held on November 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Olin Public Library.

     Tricia Curran, Valerie Cupples, Vanessa Clapp, Cole Nietert and Cord Nietert hosted the meeting.

     The next meeting of Prairie Hill 4-H Club will be on Monday, Nov. 19 at 6:15 p.m. Members should bring a canned good item to donate to the local food pantry.

     Hannah Ahlrichs, Lydia Ahlrichs, Bella Mullen, Courtney Thies, Isabella Taylor and Ian Taylor will host the November meeting and give presentations.

     A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Claire Hogan. The motion was seconded by Lake Schnoor. Motion carried. The pledge to the 4-H flag was led by Bella Mullen.
