Olin 4-H Club

     The Olin 4H Club held their monthly meeting Nov. 4, 2018.

     The secretary and treasurer reports were read. The community service, fundraiser and fair booth committees met. It was voted on and passed to spend up to $500 for the HACAP Adopt-A-Family community service project.

     New business was discussed on state changes to club finances. Officers are encouraged to attend 4H officer training being held at the Olin Library from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 12. Reminders were given to members to enroll online for the new 4H year.

     Presentations were given by Nick Lehrman on Reese’s chocolate-filled bars and Eli Lehrman on fall snack mix. Next meeting will be held at the Olin Legion on Dec. 2 at 5 p.m.

Scotch Grove Challengers

October

     The meeting of the Scotch Grove Challengers 4-H Club was held at the Monticello Renaissance Center Oct. 7, 2018 at 6 p.m.

     President Kristen Roher called the meeting to order. Paige Rickels led the Pledge of Allegiance.

     Tate Jesenovec read the secretary’s report, Davin Wickman made the motion to approve the secretary’s report, and Cooper Wickman seconded. Motion carried.

     Kacie Rickels provided the treasurer’s report, Davin Wickman made the motion to approve the treasurer’s report, and Tommy Dirks seconded. Motion carried.

     New business: Members were encouraged to sign up for the 4-H Brunch Club, which is for eighth- and ninth-graders. The Jones County Cattlemen heifer program was discussed, and form must be postmarked by Oct. 15. Members in grades 4-6 were encouraged to sign up for the On Their Own Workshop.

     Royce Kiburz made the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Davin Wickman. Kacie Rickels led the Pledge to the 4-H Flag. The meeting ended at 6:15 p.m.

     Royce Kiburz gave his presentation on the State of Iowa bird – goldfinch.

Scotch Grove Challengers

September

     The meeting of the Scotch Grove Challengers was held at the Monticello Renaissance Center Sept. 9, 2018 at 6 p.m.

     President Kristen Roher called the meeting to order. Tommy Dirks led the Pledge of Allegiance.

     Tate Jesenovec read the secretary’s report, Davin Wickman made the motion to approve the secretary’s report, and Joseph Schrader seconded. Motion carried.

     Kacie Rickels provided the treasurer’s report. Will Wolken made the motion to approve the treasurer’s report, and Tommy Dirks seconded. Motion carried.

     New business: Members were encouraged to enroll in 4-H, and the enrollment period has started. The 4-H Brunch Club is open to grades 8-9, and applications are due Sept. 28.

     Davin Wickman made the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Will Wolken. Matthew Beal led the Pledge to the 4-H Flag. The meeting ended at 6:15 p.m.
