Scotch Grove Challengers

     The March meeting of the Scotch Grove Challengers was called to order by President Kristen Roher, at 6 p.m. on March 1, 2020, at the Monticello Renaissance Center. Roll call topic: Share ideas for saving energy. Fourteen members, eight visitors, and one leader were present. The Pledge to the American Flag was led by John Welter.

     Aedan Althoff gave the Secretary’s Report. Davin Wickman made the motion to approve the Secretary’s Report, seconded by Cooper Wickman,  motion carried. Kacie Rickels gave the Treasurer’s Report. Davin Wickman made the motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report, seconded by Steven Bader, motion carried.

     Old Business: 4-H Online’s deadline is May 15; be sure to register your FAST projects that you’re doing. All data forms will be online. The derby swine weigh-in is on Saturday, April 4 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The sheep and goat weigh-in is Saturday, April 25, from 8 to 10 a.m.

     New Business: Communication/Clothing Day objectives, forms and helpful tips available online. Communication/Clothing Day will be Saturday, May 2. Start shopping or sewing.

     Fair entry information help night for 4-H FAST projects; the dates are May 28, 6-8 p.m. and June 19, 1-3 p.m. YQCA certification is due July 1; there are face-to-face or online opportunities available. T-Shirt order forms are due April 1. The club was given an update on fundraising.

     Davin Wickman made the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Cooper Wickman, motion carried. The Pledge to the 4-H Flag was led by Davin Wickman. The meeting ended at 6:25. The club was given two presentations on how to make a fidget spinner and preparing to be on the bowling team.

Olin 4-H Club

     The Olin 4H Club held its monthly meeting March 1, 2020. The meeting was started by group members participating in 4-H yoga. Committees met and reports were given.

     Reminders were given for the Horticulture Workshop March 22, the Work the Nightshift bus tour March 27-28, the Rabbit Workshop March 31, the Swine Weigh-In April 4, and the ISU Farm Trip April 10. Members signed up for shifts to work at the Olin Fireman’s Breakfast April 5. We will also be having a bake sale that day and reminders were given to bring baked goods for it.

     Presentations were given by Drew Uthoff on Gravestone Cleaning and Rheagyn Uthoff on Caring For Your Dog. Our next meeting will be held Sunday, April 5, 5 p.m. at the Olin Legion Hall.
