$50 million debt

To the Editor,
Would you sign a $50,000,000 debt?
Appears we are considering a new grade school ($20,000,000), new sewage plant ($22,500,000), new transportation center, AstroTurf for the football field, purchased farm real estate with no immediate need, and may need a new gym, plus the present $11,000,000 bond balance and an extra million for cost overruns, engineering, financial planners (to calculate maximum the school district can bond).
In Googling median household income, some towns our size had higher household income. My concern is people with limited income become spenders or savers when expenses rise. Spenders will increase credit card balances when faced with inflation, higher water bills, higher R.E. tax. Savers will buy gas in Marion and shop more at big box stores. Both are bad results for Monticello.
Hope the city and school consider the above and present drought effect on farm income as they pay engineers, pay $12,000 to light the pickleball court, and discuss future building(s). Hate to see people get buried by increased expenses. Should we slow spending?
