Absentee voting open for MCSD special election

     Absentee ballots are now available in the Auditor’s Office at the courthouse in Anamosa for all eligible voters in the Monticello School District for the Tuesday, Feb. 7 special election.

     This election would allow the Monticello Community School District to renew the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) for another 10 years.

     A sample ballot is available on the county’s website at www.jonescountyiowa.org/election-info. Absentee voting continues from now until Monday, Feb. 6 at 5 p.m. The last day absentee ballots can be mailed to voters is Friday, Feb. 3. Voted ballots must be postmarked no later than Monday, Feb. 6 to be considered for counting.

     The Jones County Auditor’s Office is offering extended office hours for election purposes. In addition to normal business hours 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, the office will also be open: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6; and 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Election Day, Tuesday, Feb. 7.
