With COVID-19 updates from Jones County Public Health winding down, Coordinator Jenna Lovaas offered some statistics from the recent Pfizer vaccine clinic.

Nightingale Drug hosted a vaccine clinic on Saturday, May 22 at Monticello High School. The target demographic was 12- to 18-year-olds. Lovaas said they had 89 patients under the age of 18; 65 of those 12 to 15 years of age.

“It was a decent turnout,” she said. “And we still have plenty of Pfizer available.”

Currently, all three COVID vaccine brands are available in Jones County: Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson.

Supervisor John Schlarmann asked whether Lovaas thought more clinics might be offered for youth throughout the county. Lovaas said some discussions have taken place with the Anamosa School District, but nothing has been scheduled as of yet.
