Almost Famous attends Starz and ASH events

DANCE

     The Almost Famous competition team attended the Midwest Starz Dance Competition April 6-9 in Cedar Rapids.

     The team received multiple specialty awards and overall awards.

     In the Mini Category, the small groups “Dream In Color” placed 2nd overall, and “Friend Like Me” placed 1st overall.  Sadie Erion and Kyla Ramler placed 2nd overall with their duo “Weather Girls” in the elite category. In the solo division, Kyla Ramler placed 4th overall with her solo “Welcome To Havana,” Morgan Ward placed 3rd with her solo “Circus,” Keyonna Wolf placed 2nd with her solo “Endangered Species,” and Tessa Intorf placed 1st overall with her solo “Fantasy.”

     In the Junior Category, the large group routines “The Story” placed 5th overall, “Schoolin Life” 3rd, and “I've Got The Music In Me” received 1st place. The line “Move” received 1st place overall. The Junior Elite Small Group, “Believe” placed 3rd overall.  Kendra Davis and Grace Harms placed 1st overall with their elite duo, “Hallelujah.” Kendra Davis also placed 5th overall with her elite solo, “Up To The Mountain.”

     In the Teen Category, the large group routines “Yonce” placed 5th overall, “I've Got Rhythm 4th, “Come Together” 3rd, and “Hanging By A Thread” received 1st place overall. In the Teen Small Group Division, “Into The Darkness” placed 6th place overall. In the Elite Small Group Division, “Open Hands” placed 9th overall, and “Soldier” placed 6th overall. Leah Smith and Allie Riches placed 3rd overall with their duo, “Le Jazz Hot.” In the Teen Solo Division, Addie Feldmann placed 10th overall with her solo “Yellow,” and Victoria Bettcher placed 3rd overall with her solo “Hurt.” In the Teen Elite Solo Division, Kirstyn Miller placed 10th overall with her solo “Landfill,” and Brady Theisen placed 6th overall with her solo “Black Hole Sun.”

     In the Senior Category, the small groups “Stairway To Heaven” placed 2nd overall, and “Ain't No Sunshine” placed 1st overall.  Anisa Krouse and Ally Bartachek placed 2nd oveerall with their duo “This Women's Work.”  In the Senior Solo Division, Shelby Koehler placed 15th overall with her solo “The Promise,” Shelbie Reyhons placed 13th overall with her solo “Oh Darling,” Ally Bartachek placed 4th overall with her solo “Give Me Love,” and Megan Smith placed 3rd overall with her solo “Iris.” In the Senior Elite Solo Division, Melissa Davis placed 5th overall with her solo “Just For The Record.” Haley Hansen Received a “Top Shot” award for a picture that was submitted, and will be used for Midwest Starz advertising.

ASH convention

     On March 23-25, the Almost Famous Competition Team attended the Artists Simply Human (ASH)dance convention in Minneapolis, Minn. Some of the students performed their solo routines. Samantha Recker and Kendra Davis received an Entertainment Scholarship. Melissa Davis received a Technical Scholarship. Claire Tuetken was selected to try out to be an assistant for the ASH Company. Lastly, Keyonna Wolf, Paige Ungs, Melissa Davis, Seneca Freeze, Sydney Freeze and Claire Tuetken all received Audition Scholarships.

     Almost Famous Dance Studio is under the direction of Amanda Hackney and Melissa Ehrisman, and is assisted by Andrea Davis and Kaitlyn Hunt.
