Almost Famous attends Tribute meet in Davenport

     The Almost Famous Dance Studio competition team attended the Tribute National Talent Competition at the Adler Theatre in Davenport in January. The team earned numerous awards including costume awards, choreography awards, and overall placement awards.

     The results are as follows:

     In the Petite Solo Honor Division, Morgan Ward placed 10th, and Tessa Intorf placed 9th. In the Petite Duet/Trio Honor Division, Kyla Ramler and Sadie Erion placed 1st with their duet, “Weather Girls.”  Lastly for the Petite Division, “Friend Like Me” placed 3rd for the Small Group Honor Division.

     Placing 6th in the Junior Solo Supreme Division was Grace Harms with her solo, “Control.” In the Junior Duet/Trio Supreme Division, Grace Harms and Kendra Davis received 3rd for the duet, “Hallelujah.” In the Junior Duet/Trio Honor Division, Arrianna Jones, Kaylin Noll, and Abigail Sharlow placed 9th with their trio, “AYO.” Alaina Mead and Amaya Wolf placed 5th with their duo, “U Got The Look,” and Kaylee Hollenback, Myra Wilson, and Seneca Freeze placed 2nd with their trio, “Firework.” In the Junior Small Group Supreme Division, “Believe” placed 3rd. In the Junior Large Group Honor Division, “I’ve Got The Music In Me” placed 5th, “The Story” placed 2nd, and “Schoolin’ Life” placed 1st. Wrapping up the Junior Division with the Honor Line Category, “Move” took 1st place.

     Moving onto the Teen category, starting with the Teen Solo Honor Division, Kelsey Adams placed 9th with her solo, “Uninvited,” Samantha Recker placed 6th with her solo, “Too Original,” and Tori Bettcher placed 2nd with her contemporary solo, “Hurt.” In the Teen Solo Supreme Division, Brady Theisen placed 7th with her solo, “Black Hole Sun.” Placing in the Teen Duet/Trio Honor Division was Allie Riches and Leah Smith with their duo, “Le Jazz Hot,” taking 3rd place. In the Teen Duet/Trio Supreme Division, Kirstyn Miller and Sydney Freeze placed 5th with their duo, “Skin and Bones,” and Brady Theisen and Leah Krantz took 1st with their duo, “Heal.” In the Teen Small Group Honor Division, “Into The Darkness” placed 7th. In the Teen Small Group Supreme Division we had two team routines place, the first one being “Open Hands” which took 7th place, and the other being “Soldier” which took 5th place. In the Large Group Honor Division, “Yonce” placed 6th, “Come Together” placed 4th, “I’ve Got Rhythm” placed 3rd, and “Hanging By A Thread” placed 1st.

     For the Senior Category, in the Senior Solo Honor Division, Megan Smith placed 10th with her solo, “Iris,” Shelby Koehler placed 8th with her solo, “The Promise,” Kaitlin Guyer placed 6th with her solo, “Yours,” Ally Bartachek placed 5th with her solo, “Secrets,” and Anisa Krouse placed 2nd with her solo, “No Ordinary Love.” In the Senior Duet/Trio Division, Ally Bartachek and Anisa Krouse placed 1st with their duo, “This Womens Work.” In the Senior Small Group Supreme Division, “Never Go Away” placed 6th. And lastly, “Stairway To Heaven” placed 1st in the Senior Large Group Honor Division.

     Receiving costume awards were Kendra Davis, Brady Theisen, Megan Smith, Madisan Birt, Addie Feldmann, and Kirstyn Miller. In the “Miss Tribute” competition, Anisa Krouse placed as 2nd runner up for the Senior Category, and Tori Bettcher received the “Miss Tribute” award for the Teen Category. Madison Ward won an essay contest, “Tribute To My Parents” where she had written an essay about why she appreciates her parents, and it was presented to everyone at the competition. Almost Famous directors Amanda Hackney and Melissa Ehrisman both received choreography awards. Melissa received the award for her routines, “Friend Like Me,” and Amanda received choreography awards for her routines, “The Story,” “Hanging By A Thread,” and “Stairway To Heaven.”

     Almost Famous Dance Studio is under the direction of Amanda Hackney and Melissa Ehrisman with the assistance of Andrea Davis and Kaitlyn Hunt.
