Almost Famous competes in KAR, Maquoketa meets

Whitney Long of Almost Famous took first place in the Sub-Novice division at the Maquoketa meet.

Kylie Meeks finished second in the Advanced Beginner division in Maquoketa.
DANCE

     The Almost Famous competition dance team competed at KAR Dance Competition Feb. 22-24 in Davenport.

     “We are so proud of each and every one of our kiddos,” said Amanda Hackney, who co-coaches the team with Melissa Ehrisman and the assistance of Kaitlyn Hunt and Andrea Davis.

     Students who earned a scholarship to attend a dance convention in New York City are denoted with the phrase “NY invite.”

     Results follow.

 

     Iowa Grown Production: Elite Rating and third Overall.

Mini Team

     Jazz: Top Rating, Judges Choice Award, and fifth Overall.

Junior Team

     Junior Contemporary Elite Rating, NY invite, and fourth Overall.

     Junior Lyrical: Top Rating, Judge’s Choice, and fourth Overall.

     Junior Jazz: Top Rating and NY invite.

     I’ll Be There For You Trio: second Overall and NY invite.

     Hurt Somebody Duo: first Overall.

Junior individuals

     Tessa Intorf ninth. Morgan Ward eighth (NY invite). Cameron Vargason seventh. Myra Wilson fourth. Arrianna Jones third. Kyla Ramler second (NY invite). Sadie Erion first (Miss Dance Title).

Teen Team

     All Again: Top Rating.

     Express Yourself: Top Rating.

     I’m Like a Bird: Top Rating and NY invite.

     I Don’t Wanna Show Off: Elite Rating and third Overall.

     Hiding My Heart: Elite Rating and second Overall.

     I Love Rock N Roll: Elite Rating and third Overall.

     Dancing In the Dark: Top Rating, 10th Overall, and NY invite.

     Another One Bites the Dust Duo (Elite Level): second Overall.

     Mess is Mine Duo: first Overall and NY invite.

     Leah Smith first Overall (Miss Dance runner up). Madison Ward fourth. Kendra Davis fifth. Grace Harms sixth. Addie Feldmann eighth. Abby Sharlow 9th (NY invite). Sam Recker (Elite Level) 11th (NY invite). Paige Ungs (Elite Level) 9th. Kelsey Adams(Elite Level) fourth.

Senior Team

     When a Man Loves a Woman: Top Rating, NY invite, and Best Costume.

     Help From My Friends: Top Rating.

     The Night We Met: Elite Rating and third Overall.

     Dope Duo (Elite Level): fifth.

     Rain Dance (NY invite).

     Megan Smith (Elite Level) 10th Overall. Leah Krantz (Elite Level) sixth Overall. Anisa Krouse (Elite Level) Miss Dance third Runner-up. Brady Theisen (Elite Level) NY invite. Allie Riches fourth. Ally Bartachek 12th (Miss Dance second Runner Up). Sydney Freeze fourth.

     The dancers donated their hard earned trophies back to the competition in the trophy buy back program. By doing so, they raised $175 to donate to Dancers Against Cancer Foundation.

 

MAQUOKETA MEET
