Almost Famous goes to Starz, KAR competitions

     Almost Famous Dance Studio of Monticello sent its competition team to a pair of recent meets.

 

Midwest Starz Competition

     In April, the team attended the Midwest Starz Dance Competition in Cedar Rapids. The team received numerous overall awards, as well as some judges choice awards. Here are the results:

     In the Senior Solo Division: Bri Henneberry, third place, lyrical. Shelbie Reyhons, fourth place, lyrical. In the Senior Elite Solo Division: Madison Decker, fourth place, open. In the Teen Elite Duo Trio Division: Leah Krantz and Brady Theisen, first place, contemporary. In the Teen Elite Solo Division: Madisan Birt, fourth place, lyrical. Leah Krantz, fifth place, Lyrical. Brady Theisen, eight place, contemporary.

     In the Teen Solo Division: Lilli Wessels, second place, lyrical. Kaitlin Guyer, fourth place, lyrical. In the Rising Starz Solo Division: Sadie Erion, first place, lyrical. Tessa Intorf, fifth place, hip-hop. In the Rising Starz Duo/Trio Division: “Shake the Room,” second place, jazz. In the Rising Starz Team Division: “Splish Splash,” second place, acrobatic. “Fergalicious,” second place, hip-hop. “Locomotion,” third place, musical theatre. “God Bless America,” fourth place, lyrical.

     In the Teen Intermediate Team Division: “Unsteady,” second place, open. In the Senior Team Division: “Rivers and Roads,” first place, contemporary. “Riri,” first place, hip-hop. “Body Language,” second place, jazz. In the Senior Elite Team Division: “Rising Water,” fifth place, contemporary.

     Out of over 1,000 routines that competed that weekend, on Floor A, Madisan Birt placed 10th overall with her lyrical solo, & Leah Krantz placed 16th overall with her lyrical solo. On floor B, Grace Harms placed 15th overall with her musical theatre solo, and Kendra Davis placed 18th overall with her musical theatre solo.

     Also awarded on floor A, coach Melissa Ehrisman received the “Best Choreography” award for her open routine, “Unsteady,” out of all of the routines that competed.

     The studio donated the trophies that we earned back to the competition in order to raise money for the Austin Strong Foundation. By doing so, it was able to earn $100 to donate to the foundation.

 

KAR Competition

     Earlier, the team attended the KAR Dance Competition in Davenport. Here are the results:

     In the Top Primary Solo 8 & Under: Sadie Erion, third place, lyrical. In the Top Primary Solo Division ages 9 to 11: Seneca Freeze, second place, contemporary. Arrianna Jones, fourth place, lyrical. In the Top Primary Duet/Trio Division for ages 9 to 11: Sadie Erion and Kyla Ramler, third place, jazz. In the Top Primary Small Group team division for ages 8 years and younger: “Splish Splash,” second place, acrobatic. “Locomotion,” fourth place, musical theatre. “Toy Story,” fifth place, lyrical.

     In the Top Primary Large Group team division for ages 9 to 11: “Fergalicious,” first place, hip-hop. “God Bless America,” third place, lyrical. “Bugle Boy,” fifth place, musical theatre. In the Top Secondary Solo division for ages 9 to 11: Kendra Davis, fifth place, contemporary. Addie Feldmann, sixth place, lyrical. In the Top Secondary Solo division for ages 12 to 14: Lilli Wessels, third place, lyrical. Megan Smith, fourth place, lyrical. Samantha Recker, eighth place, jazz. Kaitlin Guyer, 10th place, lyrical.

     In the Top Secondary Duet/Trio division for ages 9 to 11: Kendra Davis and Grace Harms, fourth place, lyrical. In the Top Secondary Small Group team division for ages 9 to 11: “Like a Prayer,” second place, lyrical. “Chain of Fools,” sixth place, jazz. In the Top Secondary Small Group team division for ages 12 to 14: “Home,” second place, contemporary. In the Top Intermediate Solo division for ages 12 to 14: Leah Krantz, fourth place, lyrical. Brady Theisen, seventh place, contemporary. Victoria Bettcher, 14th, lyrical.

     In the Top Intermediate Solo division for ages 15 to 19: Brianne Henneberry, fourth place, lyrical. Shelby Koehler, fifth place, lyrical. Shelbie Reyhons, sixth place, lyrical. In the Top Intermediate Duet/Trio division for ages 12 to 14: Claire Tuetken and Sydney Freeze, second place, hip-hop. Kelsey Adams and Sydney Freeze, fifth place, jazz. In the Top Intermediate Small Group team division for ages 15 to 19: “Rivers and Roads,” fifth place, contemporary.

     In the Top Intermediate Large Group team division for ages 12 to 14: “Prayers For A Cure, second place, lyrical. “Look Up,” third place, contemporary. “Bollywood,” seventh place, acrobatic. “Girl In The Show,” ninth place, musical theatre. In the Top Intermediate Line division for ages 12 to 14: “Riri,” first place, hip-hop. In the Top Elite solo division for ages 12 to 14: Anisa Krouse, first place, lyrical. Madisan Birt, second place, lyrical. Emma Brighton, third place, contemporary.

     In the Top Elite Solo division for ages 15 to 19: Lorraine Billmeyer, second, lyrical. Madison Decker, fourth place, open. Melissa Davis, seventh place, lyrical. Taylor Fishnick, eighth place, lyrical. Jenna Wilson, 13th place, lyrical. As a studio, Almost Famous received both the “Top Intermediate, and “Top Primary” studio awards.

     Almost Famous Dance Studio is under the direction of Amanda Hackney and Melissa Ehrisman. Assisting teachers are Andrea Davis and Kaitlyn Tuel.
