Anamosa inmate dies from suicide
An Anamosa State Penitentiary inmate passed away on May 14 from an apparent suicide.
Calvin Pearson, 52, was serving time since 2010 for two robberies in Johnson County. He was convicted of 2nd degree robbery.
In October 2009, Pearson assisted an elderly couple putting items into their vehicle.
He then took the man’s wallet after holding Anamosa inmate dies from suicide a motel key to the man’s throat as if it were a knife. The very next day, Pearson stole a woman’s purse at a rest stop in Tiffin on Interstate 80.
After Pearson was discovered, he was taken to Jones Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced. An autopsy will be conducted by the Iowa Department of Corrections investigation.
