After meeting with representatives from Pirc-Tobin Construction, the Seventh Street utility project contractor, to discuss some particulars, the city’s engineer, Snyder & Associates, recommended approval of the sixth change order and the fourth pay request.

AJ Barry, with Snyder, provided the Monticello City Council with an update during the July 5 council meeting.

The change order, in the amount of $10,600, is related to an additional water service line that had to be installed.

“They (Pirc-Tobin) agreed to lower the unit price to half the price,” said Barry. “We’ll treat this as a separate cost from the project, and track it separately for everyone’s sake.”

The pay request of $19,076.27 was withheld following the last council meeting until all parties involved could agree the project quantities.

In a letter dated July 5 to the city, Barry stated, “This pay request and change order are reflective of completed work and vetted quantities that were previously in question.”

During the last council meeting, it was noted that the seeding is still in bad shape. Barry indicated that payment for seeding would continue to be withheld “due to lack of vegetation growth.

“The seeding items will be paid to the contractor when the areas seeded have reached 70 percent vegetation,” he continued.

The council approved both the change order and pay request.
