Arp sentenced to 15 years in prison
Charles Arp
On Dec. 5, Charles Arp, Cedar Rapids, was sentenced to an indeterminate term not to exceed 10 years in prison on a count of possession of 3.5 grams of cocaine with the intent to distribute said cocaine, and an indeterminate term not to exceed five years in prison for failure to affix a drug tax stamp as it relates to methamphetamine.
The two sentences will be run consecutive to one another, and Arp will remain in custody until transferred to the Department of Corrections. His sentences are also running concurrently with a sentence in Butler County.
Arp was also fined a total of $2,025 plus court costs. His fines were suspended.
The allegations were that Arp possessed considerable amounts of both methamphetamine and cocaine, along with some marijuana on two separate occasions in Jones County: on Aug. 13, 2021, and March 9, 2022.
These cases were investigated by the Office of the Jones County Sheriff, the Office of the Linn County Sheriff, and the Anamosa Police Department.
Jones County Attorney Kristofer Lyons handled the successful prosecution on behalf of the State of Iowa.
