Awards banquet celebrates division title season

BASEBALL

     The Monticello High School baseball team celebrated its division championship and 23-6 season with an awards banquet July 29 at the Citizens State Bank Youth Development Center.

     Awards for all-district and all-conference, as well as team awards, were presented by head coach Josh Soper.

     The Panthers won the River Valley Conference North Division championship for the second year in a row. A list of award-winners follows.

 

ALL-DISTRICT

     First team: Jacob Manternach, senior; Ryan Manternach, senior; Andrew Mescher, senior; Kyle Sperfslage, senior; Avery Martensen, junior.

ALL-CONFERENCE

     Elite: Jacob Manternach, senior; Ryan Manternach, senior; Andrew Mescher, senior; Kyle Sperfslage, senior.

     North Division: Alex Nealson, senior; Gavin Cooper, junior; Avery Martensen, junior; Jon Mootz, junior.

     Honorable mention: Kegan Arduser, senior.

TEAM AWARDS

     Cy Young Award (earned-run average below 2.50): Ryan Manternach, senior; Andrew Mescher, senior.
