Banquet closes MHS' season

GIRLS TRACK

     The Monticello High School girls track and field team celebrated its season with its annual award banquet July 12 in the MHS Commons.

     Team awards, along with awards for all-state performances and school records, were presented by head coach Darren Reade.

     The Panthers finished 14th at the state meet in May, including a state champion 4x800-meter relay team and state runner-up Paige Holub in the 800 run.

     A list of award-winners follows.

 

ALL-STATE AWARD

     State champion 4x800 relay team: Taylor McDonald, senior; Gabrielle Steiner, sophomore; Jordyn Patterson, senior; Paige Holub, senior.

     State runner-up 800: Paige Holub.

SCHOOL RECORDS

     Shuttle hurdle relay (1:08.4, achieved at the state qualifying meet): Kaylee Stephen, senior; Maria Recker, senior; Macy McDonough, senior; Gabrielle Guilford, freshman.

     High jump: Gabrielle Guilford, freshman.

TEAM AWARDS

     Most Improved: Megan Mahoney, freshman.

     Leadership Award: Natalie Newhard, senior.

     Sprinter of the Year: Kaylee Stephen, senior.

     Distance Runner of the Year: Paige Holub, senior.

     Field Event Award: Gabrielle Guilford, freshman.

     Rookie of the Year: Gabrielle Guilford, freshman.

     Coaches’ Award: Kaylee Stephen, senior.
