Beckman ends Monticello's season in regionals

GIRLS SOCCER

A strong Dyersville Beckman team, playing on its own artificial turf, proved too strong for the Monticello High School girls soccer team in a Class 1A first round regional match May 28.

Beckman scored a 10-0 victory over the Panthers, ending Monticello’s season.

“The rain started to fall during warmups, and the conditions seemed to get worse as the game went on,” Monticello coach Bruce Feuling said. “The wet ball made for some missed plays by the players.”

Hannah Ahlrichs was the Panther goalkeeper, making 10 saves.

“The girls played hard and with a lot of energy considering the conditions,” Feuling said. “Being the last game of the year, all the girls who made the trip were able to get into the game and get some playing time.”

The Panthers finished the season with a 2-10 record.
