Betty Jean Richardson March 3, 1933 – Dec. 3, 2018

      Betty Jean Richardson of Monticello passed away Dec. 3, 2018 after battling complications with diabetes.

      Betty was born March 3, 1933 in Maquoketa, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Violet Earles Rickels. She attended Monticello Schools. Betty waitressed for many years and was also a loving mother and homemaker. She was a remarkable cook and also took great pride in her beautiful flowers, trees and garden she tended.

      Betty was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Vi, a sister Nancy, first husband Galen Hayen, a son Jay Hayen, and husband George V. Richardson.

      Betty is survived by a daughter Lynda Caspers (Doug) of Cedar Rapids, Mark Hayen (Lisa) of Monticello, and Kelly Richardson (Valerie) of Charleston, S.C.; nine grandchildren: Brett (Alicia), Eric (Kelly), Joel Caspers, Samantha Hayen Schroeder (Jonathan), Mitch Hayen, Thaddeus Richardson, Jamie Jo Hayen, Jenny and Michael Zoller and seven great-grandchildren.

      Graveside services will be held Jan. 25, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. Luncheon to follow at Pizza Ranch, Monticello.
