A new clubhouse/press box for West Diamond, which will be the new home of the Monticello High School softball team, was approved by the Monticello School

Board during its regular meeting Wednesday, Sept. 25.

The meeting was held on Wednesday, instead of the usual fourth Monday of the month, due to Homecoming activities on Monday.

The 34-by-12-foot facility will be built by Kraus Kustom Builders of Monticello at a cost of $28,264, and will be constructed in the same manner as the current baseball press box.

West Diamond is being remodeled as the high school softball field, since the Panthers’ previous field was torn up to make way for parking and a road for the new middle school. West Diamond was formerly one of the youth baseball and softball fields. A new youth field is being constructed behind Shannon School to take its place.
