     Bonnie Lyon of Center Junction passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2018 at Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center surrounded by her family and friends.

     A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Lahey and Dawson Funeral Home in Wyoming on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. A visitation will be held at 9 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held at North Madison Cemetery in rural Center Junction.

     Bonnie was born on April 9, 1929 near Scotch Grove, Iowa. She was the daughter of Hans and Edith (Schrader) Hinrichsen. She received her education at Center Junction School where she graduated in 1946.

     On Aug. 10, 1948 she married Robert Lyon at the First Presbyterian Church in Center Junction, Iowa. The couple lived in Center Junction for their entire lives, where they raised their three daughters. She was a cook at the Center Junction School and worked at the Center Junction Locker. Bonnie and Robert owned and operated the B&B grocery store in Center Junction, and she was the postmaster for 21 years at the Center Junction post office.

     Bonnie was Jones County Mother of the Year in 1968. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Center Junction. She was active in the church, serving as a trustee and elder, and the clerk of the session for six years. She was active in the Presbyterian Women of the church and was president for 25 years. She also served as a Sunday School teacher and Bible School teacher. She belonged to the Federated Women’s Club and Happy Hour Club.

     Bonnie is survived by her three daughters, Anita (Roger) Benedict of Monticello, Sandy Lyon of Center Junction, LouAnn (Robert) Gravel of Center Junction; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; Rachel (Jeremy) Shover (Anthony, Alex, Allison), Rodney (Theresa) Gravel (Griffin, Brayden, Lincoln, Taelyn), Thomas (Melissa) Benedict (Cooper), Sarah (Andy) Bradley, Jacob (Chelsea) Gravel (Logan and Landon).

     She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert on Feb. 7, 2012, and sister Hansetta Nagel.

     Memorials may be directed to Camp Wyoming in her honor.
