Book drive seeks donations for local children

The United Way Jones County Volunteer Center has partnered with Jones County ISU Extension & Outreach, Every Child Reads Jones County, Cedar/Jones Early Childhood Iowa, and the Anamosa Public Library to offer a book drive in Jones County.

Help kids in Jones County by donating books for babies to middle school age.

On Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to noon, you can drop off new or gently used books to either Jones County Extension in Monticello or the Anamosa library in Anamosa.

There are two ways to help:

     • Bring your books in a sealed baggie or tied grocery sack. Drive up to the volunteers and hand them your bag. No need to exit your vehicle.

     • If you don’t have books to donate but want to help, you can buy books online from the convenience of your home. Visit uweci.org/bookfair, where 25 percent of every purchase from the Scholastic Book Fair will go toward getting books to local kids in need.

When ordering books for the book drive, use the shipping address: ISU Extension, 800 N. Maple St., Monticello, IA 52310.
