Bowling tourney to help Special Olympics

     The third annual Jones County Special Olympics Scotch Doubles Bowling Tournament will be Saturday, Jan. 20, 5 p.m. at Legacy Lanes in Monticello.

     The event is the largest fundraiser for Jones County Special Olympics (JCSO), which was founded in 2012 with five adult athletes and now has about 30.

     In 2017, JCSO won gold, silver and bronze medals at the Special Olympics Iowa State Games for swimming, track, bocce ball, softball, bowling and basketball. In October of 2017, JCSO athlete Amanda Oswald was honored with the title of Special Olympics Iowa Global Messenger. Oswald will promote Special Olympics across Iowa.
