Why did you want to run for mayor? I’ve always had a passion for politics and it seems like the right time for me to get more involved. Monticello is a great community, and I want to ensure that it continues to be going forward. There is no better place to live, work, raise a family, and play and I am proud to call it home. Monticello has an exciting future, which I look forward to being a part of it.

What are your qualifications? Currently an At-large City Council Member. Volunteer on the Monticello Fire Department. BA in Political Science from the University of Iowa.

What are some challenges the city will face in the near future? Infrastructure upgrades. Street repairs are both costly and disruptive. Budgeting to maximize the amount of repairs we can do annually, as well as saving for a large project can be tricky when budgets are tight.

How should the City of Monticello manage growth and economic development? Monticello needs to continue to be aggressive with economic development. Taking advantage of local and state incentives is a big asset in attracting business to our great community. There are some fantastic projects in the works and only more will come as we continue to grow.
