Herman totals 26

in Wartburg win

     Wartburg College senior Sawyer Herman scored a career-high 26 points as the Wartburg men’s basketball team defeated Graceland 78-71 at the Waldorf Classic Nov. 24 in Forest City, Iowa.

     Herman was 8-for-12 from three-point range, setting his career record and tying the school record for most three-pointers in a game.

     Wartburg went on to win the tournament, beating Waldorf 78-67 Nov. 25 as Herman tallied 14 points. The Monticello High School graduate is the son of Doug and Leann Herman.

 

Williams makes

all-tourney team

     Spencer Williams of Monticello, a 6-foot-7 senior forward with the Coe College men’s basketball team, was named to the all-tournament team as Coe went 1-1 at the Webster Classic tournament Nov. 24-25 in St. Louis, Mo.

     Williams scored 16 points and had seven rebounds in the first round game against Webster University, a 77-60 Coe win; and had 11 points and nine rebounds in the 83-72 championship loss to Carthage College.

     He is a graduate of Monticello High School, and son of Greg and Jill Williams.
