Carol “Noonie” Harford Hansen April 4, 1934 – Nov. 30, 2020

Carol “Noonie” Harford Hansen

Carol “Noonie” Hansen (Harford) of New Brighton, Minn. passed away peacefully on Nov. 30, 2020. She is now reunited with her husband after 50 years apart.

She is survived by her only child Jayne (Craig) Walker of Oak Grove, Minn. She will be dearly missed by her four doting grandchildren. Ashley Karen Walker of New Brighton, Minn., Brooke Carol (Brock) Merry of Brookings, S.D., Dylan Richard (Julia) Walker of Brookings, S.D. and Maxwell William (Hope Schiller) Walker of Bloomington, Minn. She will forever be in the hearts of her two great-grandchildren Gabriel Rollo and Clara Jayne.

Carol was born in Monticello, Iowa to Harvey and Hazel Harford on April 4, 1934. She was a 1952 graduate of Monticello High School. She went on to receive her X-ray Technicians diploma in 1956 from Macon County Hospital in Decatur, Ill. This is where she met the love of her life Richard. They were married July 27, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in her home town. She and “Dick” would move to New Brighton, Minn. in 1961. They would build their first home and make some life long bridge friends. They both were involved in the New Brighton Jaycees, the Miss Minnesota Pageant and would eventually have a park bond passed in the city of New Brighton. When her husband passed in 1970, to honor all their hard work, Richard J. Hansen Park was named. After the death of her husband, Carol became involved in the Co-Workers of the Missionaries of Charity through their very dear friends, the Kumps. When St. Teresa of Calcutta would come to visit Minnesota to hold meetings with the co-workers, she and her daughter would get to spend some family time with her. This lovely connection was the driving force Carol needed to survive cancer for more than 28 years.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Harvey and Hazel Harford. Her siblings Winnoa “Snooks" Dierks, Wilma “Bil" McNeilly, Wanda Hodges, Pearl Dabbs, Duane Harford, Rollo Harford and nieces and nephews taken far too young. She is survived by her sister Sandra (Joseph) Spahr of Monticello and many loving nieces and nephews, too many to name.

A CELEBRATION of her wonderful life will be held Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. with visitation an hour before at St. John the Baptist Church in New Brighton, Minn. Due to Covid we are only limited to 250 people for the service. For those that are unable to attend, the service will be live streamed on St. Johns website.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to St John the Baptist Catholic School in New Brighton, Minn.
