     Carole Jeanne Martinsen, age 76, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the St. Luke’s Unity Point Hospital following an extended illness.

     Funeral services will be held at 11 Friday morning, May 19, 2017 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. 

     Surviving are four children, Kevin (Lori) Augustus, Greenville, S.C., Kent (Jill) Martinsen, and Shelley Fiedler, both of Monticello, Stacey (Randy Less) Martinsen, Manchester; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three siblings, Judith Albaugh, Monticello, Beverly (Bob) Sherlock, Clive, Mike Davidson, Farmington, and a sister-in-law, Patty Davidson, Ely. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Rex; a daughter, Kimberly Ferrante; a son-in-law, Mark Fiedler; three grandsons, P.J., Joshua and Daniel; and a brother Pat.

     Carole Jeanne Davidson was born Sept. 26, 1940 at Iowa City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Walter and Velma Grace Worden, Davidson. Jeanne graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools in 1958. She then went to work at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids. Jeanne married Rex Martinsen on Nov. 23, 1963 at Rock Island, Ill. The couple operated the Office Tap in Monticello and in 1987 purchased and operated the Pizza Place on Lake Delhi. Jeanne sold the business after Rex’s death in 1999 and moved back to Monticello. Her sister Judy moved in with her in recent years and helped take care of her during her final illness.

     Jeanne had been a member of the Monticello Golf Club and bowled with a team in Monticello. In retirement she operated a craft business with her sisters. She enjoyed going to Florida every winter and spending time fishing and boating with her cousin Jerry Worden. She also enjoyed her visits to area casinos.
