Due to increased costs associated with plaques and the attachment of plaques associated with the Oakwood Cemetery columbarium niches, the Cemetery Board asked the Monticello City Council to consider increasing the fees.

The item came up at the Sept. 21 city council meeting.

The Cemetery Board recommends that prices of the niches be sold, from this point forward, for $708. This covers the price of a plate/plaque, as well as installation.

Adding other decorative items such as a scroll for the date of death, which were previously included in the price, would be determined at a later date and passed on to the families when the addition and engraving were ordered and completed.

     The council approved the fees.
