Central Park Nature Center re-opens to public

The Jones County Conservation Central Park Nature Center is open to the public, once again, by appointment-only or drop-in viewing. (You can drop by to see if the center is open and sign up for an available timeslot.) The center will be open Saturday and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.; and Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Please call 563-487-3541 extensions 1 or 3 to set up a timeslot to ensure staff availability. Time slots will be available for families or groups of six people or less. All those entering the Nature Center will be required to wash their hands, complete a brief health screening, and provide basic contact information.

Facemasks are recommended, but not required.

Central Park has many educational and recreational opportunities available throughout the year, including 12 hiking trails with several interpretive trails, fully modern and primitive campgrounds, rental cabins, playgrounds, rental and first-come-first-serve shelters, picnic areas with grills, horseshoe pits, sand volleyball, native pollinator gardens, prairie plantings, fishing piers and concrete fishing access, kayak and canoe access points, concrete boat ramp, and a recently renovated swimming beach (no lifeguard on duty/swim at your own risk).
