Central Park sets Earth Day cleanup

Enjoy the sights and sounds of spring as you visit Central Park and the Central Park Nature Center on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22.

Stop in at the Nature Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and help clean up Central Park. Take the Nature Center Challenge to win a prize, sign-up to clean up a section of Central Park, enjoy soup and a sandwich for lunch, go for a hike in the park, learn more about the Central Park Lake Restoration Project, and stop for a quick swing at the playground.

Bring your work gloves and hiking shoes and dress to get dirty. If you want to help pull debris from the drained lake bed, make sure to bring extra clothes, five gallon buckets, and mud boots. We’ll provide garbage bags.

For information or directions to Central Park Lake, please call Michele at 319-481-7987. Soup and sandwich fundraiser luncheon provided by the Friends of Jones County Conservation and Nature Center – free will donations accepted. Funds raised will go toward Nature Explorer Backpacks for the Jones County Environmental Education Program.
