Central Park StoryWalk Fall Festival, Oct. 15

Mark your calendars now for the Central Park StoryWalk Fall Festival coming up on Saturday, Oct. 15, 5 to 8 p.m.

Bring your flashlight, wear a costume (although costumes are optional), and venture down the pumpkin-lit Jones County Wild for Reading StoryWalk Trail in the Frankfurt Forest to enjoy the fall book “Dem Bones” by Bob Barner.

Stop at the Central Park enclosed pavilion to dance to fun music and play musical pumpkins with DJ’ing by Pete Temple and help from the Jones County Safe & Healthy Youth Coalition BEASTS Teen Advisory Committee members and Prairie Hill 4-H Club volunteers.

Enjoy craft activities and games sponsored by the Anamosa Library and Learning Center, Cascade Public Library, Ross & Elizabeth Baty Monticello Public Library, and the Wyoming Public Library.

Make sure to pick up your free book at the Every Child Reads Jones County book giveaway table. Copies of the featured StoryWalk Trail book “Dem Bones,” provided by Chronicle Books Publishing, will be available for the first 50 families.

Don’t forget to head over to the Central Park Nature Center to check out our fall displays and make your own animal mask as you warm up with a cup of cider or hot chocolate and enjoy a cookie snack courtesy of the Friends of Jones County Conservation and Nature Center.

Thanks to the Hansen Family Farm near Onslow, Prairie Hill 4-H Club, area Girl Scouts, and all of the families donating and carving pumpkins to light the night for this festive event.
