The Monticello Area Chamber of Commerce has its next director.

The board announced in a press release Jan. 7 that it has hired Zavier Clark into the role.

MACC Board President Allie Aschtgen said in the release that Clark was hired after a “thoughtful and thorough search.” The Chamber director position had been empty since Nov. 29 when previous director Megan Beaman resigned to take a nonprofit job in the Cedar Falls area.

“Zavier brings a strong background in leadership, operations and community-focused problem-solving,” Aschtgen said. “With experience working alongside schools, businesses and organizations across Iowa, he is known for his collaborative approach and his ability to turn ideas into practical action.”

Clark’s first official day was Jan. 12. He told the Express he is committed to begin “resourcefully serving an already well-established business community in Monticello.”

In its press release about Clark’s hiring, the chamber said, “We are confident that Zavier brings the leadership, perspective and service-oriented mindset that will help move our Chamber forward.”

Clark and Aschtgen told the Express that once Clark gets situated in the role, he would be available for an interview to answer questions about his past experiences working with the business community and the Chamber’s goals for the future.
