Christine E. “Kris” Jenson

     Christine E. “Kris” Jenson, 90, of Monticello, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2016 at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, Guttenberg, Iowa.

     Visitation was held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello.

     A Funeral Service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 at Kramer Funeral Home, 700 E. Oak St., Monticello, and Rev. Paul Finger officiated. A burial will be held in Mt. Horeb, Wis. at a later date.

     Kris was born on Feb. 7, 1926 in Mt. Horeb, Wis., the daughter of Jimmie and Helen Magnuson Lunde. She married Victor Jenson on Aug. 10, 1952 in Mt. Horeb, Wis. She and Vic owned and operated the Coast to Coast Store for 25 years. She was the choir director at numerous churches including St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Monticello. Kris wrote the cooking column, “Kooking with Kris,” which ran in the Monticello Express and had a published cookbook. She enjoyed her family, playing cards (especially bridge), traveling, cross-stitching, history and decorating. She was active in several organizations including, BPW, American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries.

     Survivors include her children, Dana (Rachel) Jenson of Waterloo, Beth Helmrichs of Garnavillo, Ricka (Steve) Parkhurst of Gardner, Kan., and Adam (Lorri) Jenson of Paola, Kan.; nine grandchildren, Luke (Ria) Jenson of Waterloo, Nick Jenson of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Travis (Krissy) Helmrichs of Hopkinton, Jordan Helmrichs of Garnavillo, Sarisa (Wayne) Placzek of Marion, Andrew (Stephanie) Jenson of Marion, Nathan (Nicole) Jenson, of Oceanside, Calif., Michelle Prothe of Paola, Kan. and Justine (Jeffery) Conner of Osawatomie; Kan.; 13 great grandchildren; brother-in-law Erwin Zuehlke of Beloit, Wis.; sisters- in-law, Joan Jenson of Madison, Wis., Monica Jenson of Mt. Horeb, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor on March 24, 2008; son Aric on Nov. 20, 2009; a sister, Joan Zuehlke.

     A very special thank you to her friends and neighbors for helping her these past few years so she could stay in her home as long as she did. Additional thanks to the staffs of Monticello UnityPoint Clinic, Jones County Regional Hospital and the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital for all their excellent care.
