McClusky performs in Wheaton choir

     Grace McClusky, of Monticello, performed in a Lenten concert featuring music by the Wheaton College Concert Choir and theater performed by the cast of KJV, a production of Wheaton College’s Arena Theater. McClusky sang alto.

Iowa Student Loan awards scholarships

     High school seniors from across the state earned $2,000 for college while learning important financial literacy skills through the 2016-2017 Iowa Financial Know-How Challenge: Senior Scholarship sponsored by Iowa Student Loan.

     Nichole Winter of Maquoketa Valley High School was among the 30 students who scored the highest on the assessment and, because of a tie of top scores, received the highest scores on an independently judged essay.

     Each recipient’s high school will also receive a $500 award to improve or implement financial literacy and scholarship programs.

Area students to attend Cornell College

     Dawson Paulsen of Onslow and Abigail Tenley of Olin have been admitted to Cornell College, Mount Vernon, for the Fall 2017 semester.
