Community support of Main Street Iowa has been great

To the Editor,

   On behalf of our Main Street Monticello committee, thank you! We certainly felt the energy and support of our community in these past few months! This week is a critical piece, submitting the application. We have a team that’s been working tirelessly to compile and submit this lengthy application. Our goal is to finalize and submit our application “live” on our Facebook page during our regular Friday morning meeting. Be sure to follow our page (“Monticello, IA Main Street”) for more information and any updates to this timeline.

   Our work is far from over after we submit the application. We hope (and expect) to be invited to present to the Main Street Iowa Committee in Des Moines mid-July. Designation will be awarded to likely one or two Iowa communities in early August. Please keep the support and pledges coming. Please bear in mind, being designated a Main Street Community is not only a badge of honor for our downtown designated area, but will undoubtedly have a ripple effect to the entire community. We’re excited and hope you are too!
