Comp. Board, collective bargaining agreements filed

The Jones County Supervisors received the recommendations from the Compensation Board regarding elected officials’ salaries for Fiscal Year 2021 ( July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021).

Their recommendations include:

• 10 percent ($9,956.16) increase for County Attorney, bringing the salary from $99,561.60 to $109,517.76.

• 5 percent ($4,428.87) increase for Sheriff, bringing the salary from $88,577.38 to $93,006.25.

• 5 percent ($3,432.55) increase for County Auditor, bringing the salary from $68,651.07 to $72,083.62.

• 5 percent ($3,329.24) increase for County Treasurer, bringing the salary from $66,584.76 to $69,914.

• 6 percent ($3,827.73) increase for County Recorder, bringing the salary from $63,795.52 to $67,623.25.

• 5 percent ($1,500.03) increase for Board of Supervisors, bringing the salary from $30,000.53 to $31,500.56.

The Compensation Board voted to send their recommendations to the board of supervisors, with two members opposed (Mike Deutmeyer and Darrick Hall).

The Compensation Board includes the following members: Deutmeyer representing the sheriff, Hall representing the supervisors, Lisa McQuillen representing the auditor, Lindsey Meyer representing the county attorney, Nels Petersen representing the treasurer, and Abram Tubbs representing the recorder. Kris Gobeli, representing the board of supervisors, was absent.

The board of supervisors filed the recommendations.

The board approved a tentative agreement with P.P.M.E. Local 2003. This includes a three-year collective bargaining agreement, effective July 1, 2020.

The wages for collective bargaining employees included in the agreement offer a 3 percent increase on July 1, 2020; 2.75 percent on July 1, 2021; and 2.75 percent on July 1, 2022.

For the sheriff deputies, they will be eligible for a 3 percent increase after six years of service.
