Competitive events keep Almost Famous busy

     A dance competition, tumbling event and competition gymnastics event have kept students from Almost Famous Dance and Gymnastics in Monticello active in recent weeks.

Starz Dance Competition

     Almost Famous Competition Dance attended the Starz Dance Competition in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 29-31.

     “What a great weekend it was,” said Amanda Hackney, who co-directs the team with Melissa Ehrisman, assisted by Andrea Davis and Kaitlyn Hunt. “We’re so proud of these kiddos.”

     Specialty Awards: Choreography Award for routine Help From My Friends.

     Judges Choice Awards: Nicole Smith Solo, Haley Hansen Solo, Anisa Krouse Solo, Mess is Mine Duet, Rain Dance Duet, Maddie Ward Solo, Praying Group Dance, Wild West Group Dance, and I love Rock and Roll Group Dance.

     Standout Dancers: Jessica Smock, Brady Theisen, Nicole Smith, Leah Krantz and Kendra Davis.

     Improv Dance Runner Up: Morgan Ward.

     Iowa Grown Production Platinum Rating and first overall.

     Mini Team: Jazz High Gold Rating.

     Junior Team: Junior Contemporary Platinum and third overall in Junior Small Group. Lyrical Platinum and fifth overall. Jazz Platinum and first overall. I’ll Be There For You Trio fourth overall. Hurt Somebody Duo second overall.

     Junior Individual: Kyla Ramler fifth overall. Sadie Erion fourth overall. Cameron Vargason third overall.

     Teen Team: All Again Platinum and fifth overall. Express Yourself High Gold. I’m Like A Bird High Gold (Elite Level). I Don’t Wanna Show Off Platnium and first overall. Hiding My Heart Platinum and third overall. I Love Rock and Roll Platinum and first overall (Elite Level). Dancing in the Dark Platinum and fourth overall (Elite Level). Mess is Mine Duet first overall.

     Teen Individual: Maddie Ward seventh overall. Kendra Davis fifth overall. Grace Harms fourth overall.

     Senior Team: The Way You Make Me Feel Platinum and second overall. Destiny Platinum (Elite Level). When a Man Loves a Woman platinum and third overall (Elite Level). Help From My Friends Platinum and first overall (Elite Level). The Night We Met Platinum and second overall (Elite Level). Dope Duet third overall. Rain Dance Duet third overall (Elite Level). Intrigue fourth overall (Elite Level). Brady Theisen eighth overall (Elite). Leah Krantz fifth overall (Elite).

     Senior Individual: Anisa Krouse first overall. Kaitlin Guyer sixth overall. Haley Hansen eighth overall. Ally Bartachek ninth overall.

     Almost Famous dancers donated their trophies back to raise money for a good cause. Almost Famous raised $450 to support Dawn Long and family.

Pine Creek Tumbling

     Almost Famous also attened the Plum Creek Tumbling meet March 23-24 in Waverly.

     Beginner: Emerlynn Wright fifth, Isla Stoneking sixth, Brooklynn Meyer seventh, Reese Reitzler fifth, Koye Jaeger fourth.

     Advanced Beginner: Tessa Intorf third, Kylie Meeks fifth, Emma Brockhohn third, Emma Kramer fifth.

     Sub-Novice: Whitney Long first, Morgan Ward third, Alaina Mead sixth, Cameron Vargason fourth, Abbey Kramer second, Kennedy Ward first.

Marshalltown meet

     More recently, Almost Famous competed in the Marshalltown competition gymnastics meet April 7.

     Beginner: Reese Reitzler fourth, Koye Jaeger third, Isla Stoneking fifth, Emerlynn Wright sixth.

     Advanced Beginner: Tessa Intorf first, Kylie Meeks second, Emma Brockhohn fifth, Emma Kramer fifth.

     Sub-Novice: Whitney Long second, Kennedy Ward second, Cameron Vargason third, Morgan Ward fourth, Alaina Mead sixth.
