Congress should oppose socialist regimes

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

Please write your congressional representatives and ask them to oppose the suppression of Christians by two socialist regimes.

The first socialist regime is the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The CCP rewrote the Bible to conform to communist ideology and requires Christians to use this perverted version.

In the authentic version, Jesus is asked whether an adulterous woman should be stoned. Jesus replies, “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.” The crowd threatening to stone the woman then walks away. Jesus tells the woman, “Go and sin no more.”

In the CCP version, after the crowd leaves, Jesus says, “I too am a sinner. But if the law could only be executed by men without blemish, the law would be dead.” Jesus then stones the woman to death. This is in accordance with the CCP’s view that the law, promulgated solely by the CCP, must be enforced without question.

The CCP is prosecuting Catholic Cardinal Joseph Zen, a prominent advocate for religious freedom, for failing to register a pro-democracy charity. He also is being investigated for collusion with foreign forces, possibly resulting in a life sentence.

The second socialist regime is the Democratic Party which controls the government of the United States.

A prominent pro-abortion advocate, Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren, called for the government to shut down all crisis pregnancy centers in the U.S. and to penalize them on the basis that pro-life pregnancy centers are, by definition, engaged in false advertising. This ban would violate the First Amendment’s protections of freedom of speech and of religion. Such pro-life centers, founded on Christian beliefs in the sanctity of human life, provide ultrasounds, counseling, baby formula, diapers and clothing to pregnant women and mothers. Warren expressed the view that these services are “torture.” At that time and now, such centers are being firebombed and vandalized by pro-abortion forces.

The Biden Administration then arrested 22 Christian pro-life advocates. For example, 20 FBI agents terrorized Mark Houck, a Catholic pro-life advocate, by almost breaking down the door to his residence, and pointing guns at and arresting him in front of his family.

Houck was arrested for violating the Federal Access to Clinic Entrances Act. He and his 12-year-old son were peacefully protesting outside an abortion clinic when an abortion escort approached the 12-year-old and began violently shouting obscenities at him. When Houck and his son tried to leave, the escort pursued his son and continued shouting obscenities. Houck protected his son from a potential assault by pushing the advocate away.

Prior to the arrest, Houck’s attorney had notified the Department of Justice that Houck would voluntarily turn himself in if the Department chose to arrest him. The attorney also pointed out that the precedent in the same federal district held that such one-off events do not constitute violations of the act. Despite this, Justice chose to terrorize Houck and his family.

The attacks on the pregnancy centers also violate Federal law. But, (surprise!), no arrests have been made.

Sincerely,

Donald W. Bohlken
